Leading for Equity

Continuing our exploration of the topic of equity, the GVASCD is proud to present "Leading for Equity." This session will empower and support members of school district communities, as they take their self-reflective journey toward equity-centered leadership. In an effort to take action, participants will formulate plans for disrupting oppressive systems to replace them with more equitable and just systems that value diverse cultural identities and contributions.

Participants will:

  • Learn the importance of Equity in the educational system

  • Examine the National Challenges of Equity

  • Unpack National Data which exposes educational inequities

  • Understand what it means to Lead for Equity

  • Listen to the voices of students (student panel)

  • Develop actions steps towards an Equity plan for your district

Genesee Valley ASCD Members: $25 (Fall Special just for members!)

Tasha Potter, Educator and Consultant: Tasha received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Master of Arts in Liberal Studies and Certificate of Advanced Study in Education Leadership, all of which were earned from The College at Brockport, State University of New York. She is currently working towards a Doctorate in Education Executive Leadership from St. John Fisher College. Tasha began her educational career during the 1992-93 school year. She has served as a teacher, an assistant principal, principal and now a district level director. As a leader for Equity, Inclusion and Diversity, she specializes in developing, facilitating and implementing innovative solutions for creating equitable outcomes both locally and nationally.
